Crowdfunding Manchester - free support

Anne Strachan, CrowdfundUK, has been commissioned by Manchester City Council to deliver support to help third sector organisations and social enterprises explore crowd funding and develop campaigns that will benefit the City of Manchester.

Crowd funding is raising small amounts of money from a large number of people (the crowd) normally using a specialist crowd funding web site.
Crowd funding can be exciting but hard work and you need time and energy as well as a well defined project that will appeal to the crowd’s imagination.

This workshop helps you to develop your idea, use social media and a video to tell your story, prepare your pitch and launch your campaign. It is specifically for organisations that understand crowdfunding and that are interested in developing a crowd funding campaign.

Please note the sessions will not explain what crowd funding is and how it works. If you attend you must be committed to running a campaign. Ask me if you want to know more - to get you up to speed.

Workshop session one - 12 December 2013 (10:00am - 12:00pm)
This session is for organisations that understand what crowd funding is and how it works.
• clarify your project and its budget
• provide an overview of how video can help with your campaign
• supply the tools to enable you to start planning your story
• develop your social media skills
• draw up an action plan

Workshop session two - 16 January 2014 (10:00am -12:00pm)
This session is for organisations that attended the session on 12 December 2013 or for organisations that have already planned a crowdfunding campaign but do not need support to develop a video or do not need a video in their campaign.
• explore your story in detail to develop a story board
• look at ways to implement the story board and produce a video
• finalise your action plan
• develop your on and offline campaign
….and then present your project to a group of “Angels” for critical but friendly feedback.

At the end of this workshop you will be ready to launch. If you have already launched it will help you get the word out.

*The venue for both sessions is: Board Room, MACC, 3rd Floor, Swan Buildings, 20 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JW
